Camping Season has begun!

First week of May and the camping season has begun.  Last year at this time we had 8 inches of fresh snow up on the land.  Not this year!  We spent Sat night and the weather was perfect.  Not too cool and not too hot.  A great way to begin the season.

However, getting the camper at that spot did not come easy.  After much rain this past week the soil on the edge of our driveway was holding water and backing up the camper along there proved to be a bad choice.

We hit a small sink hole.  Enough to drop the front tire in up to the frame of the truck.
Not a good start.  After about a half hour of us trying to dig out a neighbor came
to our rescueand pulled the truck out.  Thankful he helped!

Now we know we need a culvert there also.
So our excavator will be leveling our spot for the shed,
bringing in some remaining fill and adding a culvert in this month.
Glad we found this out before we began construction.

The turtles are back and it is so fun to watch them sun on the logs in the bay.  Craig spotted a baby on the mother's back.  Even saw quite a few ducks on the lake.  No fishing but Craig did take the boat out to try out the new trolling motor.  We had more brush to cut up and burn and some raking.  So we put in two days of work but did enjoy some down time too.  Can't be all work and no play!

Funny thing about driveways, drainage. Never thought much about drainage until purchasing land. I imagine the same for you. Driveways were always taken for granted - they were "there." Now I appreciate the expense and the planning of a good driveway. Not something a person plans on learning later in life, but not a bad thing to know either.
