Fishing, Fairs and Fill

The fill has been brought in and leveled.  It looks nice and we are pleased with how it turned out.  We are really starting to feel at home here. :)

We cheered on Josh as he ran a 10K Friday night, went to the Bloomer Fair on Sat. night and attended our first Bloomer Parade on Sunday.  Small Town USA at it's best!

We did work on Sat.  We finished cutting up all the wood left over and also put some wood chips on the pathway to the lake.  Lots of time cleaning up wooded areas.

Fishing has been great.  I caught my first bass - 18" fighter.  Josh has been catching his share of fighters too.  Fishing is relaxing for the soul. :)  As they say,  ALL work and no play..........................................

Your property is becoming almost idyllic, more-so when you've more room than the Scamp can offer. Must be a disappoint having to return to the more mundane Onalaska.
I've no doubt you're looking forward to the time when you can have all your grandchildren on the lake with you.

Bass on an ultralight -- great fun (except for the cleaning part). I most enjoy bass fishing with top-water lures -- the boil of water as the bass explodes to the surface, grabbing the lure.
Eating bass -- not-so-much. Sunfish & bluegill are preferred, unless you can find a sizable northern that I'm told also inhabit the lake -- slow pan-fried in lemon-butter -- tasty, except for all the small bones.

I'd bet this is one of your better summers -- 2 grandkids on the way, and able to develop & enjoy your land.

The size of those bass -- almost competition quality. Catch and release is such a good idea, sunfish are better eating.
