She gets a lot of attention and she in turn gets to give more than enough puppy kisses. Gramma really comes alive when she holds and pets her and Mesa gives her puppy kisses. She smiles and laughs and gets really silly. The nurses even respond on how happy she is and they do not see that very often. It's so thrilling to see Gramma so responsive. Guess this means Mesa will start going every Sunday with us! It was quite an event! After dropping her off at the groomers and going shopping I got a phone call from her saying she had accidentally picked the wrong dog out of the kennel and began to cut her very short on the back before the owner realized she had the wrong dog. YIKES! I was stunned. I wanted her to have a puppy cut which is longer than a regular style. So for the next two hours I shopped but was pretty preoccupied wondering how my little one would look when I picked her up. Possibly like a shaved black rat. But, I was relieved when I finally did see her and it was not as bad as I thought. Shorter, yes but she still has an adorable face!!! And it will grow out. Just goes to show you that dogs can get bad haircuts too! They just don't know it!

Starting over............

Well, I will try to attempt this blog thing again. I am great at reading other blogs but not so great at keeping up with my own. I have no idea what to say or how to add pictures or anything but am willing to try to learn this. My new blog title "Puppy Tails" is in honor of our newest addition to our family this spring. She is an adorable little black Shi-Poo named "Mesa". She is sweet, loving, energetic and loves people and puppies. She has adjusted very well to having an older sister - our other dog "Sophie". She on the other hand is not all that thrilled at the idea of sharing her house. They are adapting to each other and Mesa is slowly learning her boundaries. She is just a puppy so she just does those puppy things that a 3 year old dog finds obnoxious. But life with 2 dogs is under way here and we are enjoying them both. They love to go for walks and can't wait to go camping or to visit our granddaughters (whom they simply adore!). I hope you enjoy their adventures!

Kristen Andrews

If you got my comment leave yours here. thanks

School Days

Well, I officially have 6 days of school left. Any teacher can relate to how we all are feeling this time of the year. We look forward to our long awaited summer vacation but at the same time feel abit sad to see another school year come and go. Many faces move on, never to see them again. This was my first year at the high school level and so I especially feel this watching the seniors graduate and move onward. I got to know many of them and really will miss them in the fall. But, I look forward to meeting a new class of freshman, many of whom I know from working in the elementary school they attended. So with summer just around the corner I look forward to a visit from my daughter and 2 grandaughters in June, a trip to Las Vegas in July and a trip to Door county, WI in Aug. Also many days of fun biking, walking, gardening, reading and just hanging out with friends.

Mother's Day

Today we celebrate Mother's Day. A day to recognize all the important women in our lives from yesterday, today and tomorrow. I reflect on my Grandma Gavin. I loved being able to go visit her for weekends all by myself. We had so much fun together. She was a woman of great character. She passed when I was only 20 years old. But, I have many fond memories of her. I reflect on my own mother. A godly woman who put others first in her life. Though, she is not her mentally anymore, she is still here physically and I do get to spend time with her. I still am so emotionally connected to her. She is another wonderful example to follow. I reflect on my mother-in-law. She passed away about 15 years ago. She was a quiet woman, who didn't want to be noticed. She lived a simple life and in her last 2 years she reconnected with the Lord and with her family. We cherish that time we had with her. I reflect on my own daughter, who is a young mother of two precious girls. She is a devoted mother instilling her love for God to her children. She brings so much love, joy, and smiles to those around her. I am so proud of her. I am so blessed to have all these wonderful women in my lives. They each have brought something special to my life and I am a better woman because of them. God bless them all and Happy Mother's Day!

Another birthday!

Today is May 6th. It is my mother's birthday. She is 78 years old today. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease 6 years ago in Feb. Although we now know she was already in the early stages for a few years before that. It was a relief to know what was wrong with her but also hard to accept at the time because my dad was in his final weeks of life with his cancer. Two major blows in a few short weeks time. It is so hard to watch a person fade away from you. Watching your mother lose her abilities to take care of herself is very emotional. Seeing her lose her communication with the world is heart wrenching. Not being able to understand what she is talking about half of the time is frustrating. So, I usually just nod and agree with her and try to talk about things that she can see or touch at the time. She still knows who I am so that is my real blessing for the time being. She has not lost her ability to share her love for me with hugs and kisses. I do not know when God will call her home to reunite with my father, but I pray he will spare her any undue suffering in this process. She was a very kind and giving mother. A gentle spirit. A woman who served God teaching Sunday school for over 20 years. Someone who I will always cherish. She was not just my mother but my best friend. Happy birthday Mom!

Birthdays!

Today is May 5th. It is my father's birthday. He would of been 75 years old today! He passed away from cancer 6 years ago in April. So, today I reflect on his life and what he meant to those who knew and loved him. He was a kind, generous, compassionate godly man. He would do anything for someone in need. He was trustworthy and dependable. He was a man of his word. He was a great example as a father growing up and and even better example of a grandfather for my children. He shared with them not only his wisdom but his love and compassion for those around him. He motivated us. He showed us all what life was really about. He was a true servant of God. I miss him more and more each day but still feel his presence in my life. Especially when I look at my children and see his affects on their lives as they continue to grow and serve others in their lives. We love and miss you Dad. Happy birthday to you Jennisa! 28 years ago God blessed me with a precious baby girl. I already had an awesome little boy so God knew what he was doing when he chose her to come into my life.
